Jays Update: 11/11/2016

Just like last year Jays seems to have a strict rule in making transaction only on Fridays and today the front office was busy.

The first news that came out was the signing of Cuban prospect Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Here’s some quotes from his scouting report that would make any baseball fan swoon:

A good runner with a good glove, Lourdes is athletic enough to play infield and outfield. He’s shown some power potential and is still honing his overall approach at the plate. (source)

Also just in case you needed to know, he’s kinda adorable especially when he doesn’t have the chinstrap:

The second, really big news, which is the signing of Kendrys Morales, yeah that Morales. The one who use to be a Royal and beat the Jays and went to win the World Series in 2015. Sigh….

I promise I’ll try to like him, and hell I have 3 years to try so that should be plenty of time.

Morales switch hits which is awesome for the Jays heavily righty lineup. He mashed lefties this season unlike our Jays hitting

.330/.369/.560.

He is primarily a DH so if the Jays don’t make any more moves in the IF we may have to look at Smoak as our primary 1Bmen and I’m assuming Atkins is smart enough not to let that happen.

Morales also to manged to hit 30 HRs last year, 12 being in the pitcher friendly Kaufmann Stadium. It should be interesting to see what his numbers look like while hitting in the hitter friend ALE parks.
