As Jays fan we’re bred to hate the O’s, and I share such sentiment but damn do I love Birds vs. Birds series cause for sure they’re not going to be boring, especially when the Jays win.
Aaron Sanchez was once again amazing and pitched 6 innings, only giving up 1 run and striking out 10. If the Jays and O’s do face each other in the Wild Card game I suspect that it will be Sanchez who will again face the O’s and I have all the confidence in him after all his done this season.
He was then followed up by Biagini who pitched two scoreless innings seamlessly. Despite not being a save situation and Cecil being up and ready, twice, Osuna came out to close out the game. He made things interesting by giving up hits to the first 2 batter he faced but a fielder’s choice and double play would secure the Jays win.
Run support for Sanchez seemed to pretty much come from 2 guys. Donaldson and… Carrera, yes that Carrera. With Travis day to day Carrera was placed at the top of the line up and went 2-for-3 with a walk and a HR. Pretty much if Zeke got on base he scored.
Donaldson had a perfect day at the plate going 3-for-3 with walk and a HR. A Pillar single in the fifth cashed in by Carrera would be the only other run not score by the top of the lineup.
This was damn great way to start a series. With today’s win the Jays now have a 2 game cushion from the second Wild Card Team. Tomorrow the Jays have Liriano against Chris Tillman who pitched only 1.2 innings his last start, so let’s hope we see that Tillman.

This interview was so damn cute. Hazel Mae couldn’t get her words out and Martin’s reaction was so precious.
OMG I love these precious angels.
Look at how Sanchez burrows his head on Estrada. Estrada holds and that proud smile.
And look at how long Estrada lingers his hands on Sanchez shoulders, “You did good kid, you did good.”
Again, I love out starters so much!
